Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
As one of the most romanticized modes of transportation, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania celebrates everything that relates to the Iron Horse. The museum's been called the greatest railroad museum in the world, providing a nostalgic glimpse into railroading's golden years.
Set in the idyllic Lancaster County Amish country, the museum contains steam engines, diesels - even an electric locomotive. The museum and nearby shortline, the Strasburg Rail Road, have turned the area into a Mecca for former railroaders and their families, industry historians, and railroading enthusiasts.
Housing one of the most significant collections of historic railroad artifacts in the world, the museum displays more than 100 historically significant locomotives and railcars. The museum also has a large collection of Pennsylvania-related artifacts spanning the years 1825 to the present.
