Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area - TOUR

Utz Quality Foods, Inc
Bill and Salie Utz founded Utz Quality Foods in 1921 in Hanover, York County. Bill Utz was unhappy with the quality of potato chips being produced at the time and believed so strongly in the marketability of a wholesome quality chip that he quit his job and risked it all to begin producing the couple's own brand of potato chips.

Three generations later, Utz Quality Foods still is cranking out potato chips and other snack foods like corn chips, pretzels and onion rings.

A free self-guided tour of Utz Snacks lets visitors watch the entire 30-minute process that transforms the humble spud into a crunchy chip.
