Bonham House
A restored 19th-century house once owned by local artist Horace Bonham (1835-1892) and lived in, continuously, by Bonham family members between 1875 and 1965. The Bonham House offers a glimpse into privileged 19th- and early-20th century life. Horace Bonham was an attorney but also worked as a newspaper editor and a congressional aide before he studied painting in Europe in 1869. A painter of genre, narrative and portrait art, he supported his family through his artwork. Many of his paintings can be seen in the house. Period furnishings on display reveal the social and cultural changes that took place in America between the Civil War and the turn of the century.
