Steinman Run Nature Preserve
This 245-acre preserve is hilly and formerly was logged for timber but features the pristine Steinman Run, which contains juvenile brook trout .
The preserve offers a variety of seasonal color. Wood anemone, white violet and other wildflowers bloom in spring and early summer. Witch hazel and the dramatic reds, golds, and oranges of the autumn show off their colorful display in the hickories, maples, birch and beech trees. Winter snow provides a dramatic backdrop for cross-country skiing.
The blazed trail gently ascends from an elevation of 520 feet to about 740 feet through a dense forest that permits little understory.
Hunting is permitted in season.
Restrictions: No bikes, horses, vehicles, alcohol, hunting, fishing, camping or fires. Pets must be leashed.
