Preservation Pennsylvania
Preservation Pennsylvania (PPA), through creative partnerships, targeted educational and advocacy programs, advisory assistance, and special projects, assists Pennsylvania communities to protect and utilize the historic resources they want to preserve for the future.

Each year we lose more and more of our historic villages, farmlands, neighborhood schools, industrial sites, urban neighborhoods, stone arch bridges, to name only a few examples of Pennsylvania's endangered historic places. Pennsylvania at Risk is published annually by PPA and is a representative sampling of the variety and richness of our Commonwealth's historic properties and the types and severity of threats they face.

Since its creation in 1982, the Preservation Fund of Pennsylvania, which is managed by PPA, has been used to acquire and resell threatened historic properties to buyers who are willing to restore and maintain them, and to make low interest loans directly to organizations and government agencies for the restoration or rehabilitation of specific historic properties.

The organization also hosts several events each year to bring awareness to the importance of preserving our rich heritage. Pennsylvania’s Historic Preservation Awards continue a tradition held since 1979 whereby excellence in preservation is recognized and honored for significant contributions in the field of historic preservation made by both individuals and organizations. PPA also plans and coordinates an annual statewide historic preservation conference or a series of workshops in cooperation with an ever-increasing number of partner organizations and agencies, including both professional and volunteer historic preservationists and related constituencies. The annual conference/workshop series was started in 1993.
