Eichelberger Performing Arts Center
Eichelberger Performing Arts Center was built in 1896 and began as a school called the Eichelberger Academy. Abdiel Wirt Eichelberger (1819-1901) of Hanover, a retired naval officer and railroad baron funded the academy that was designed by Dempwolf Architects of York. By the 1990s, the building had fallen into disrepair. But an adaptive-reuse plan helped the building re-open in 1998 as a performing arts center presenting a mix of community productions and national touring acts. There are also backstage tours and jazz, bluegrass and country classic musical series.
