Lititz Moravian Church
Pennsylvania Germans settled much of Lancaster County. But it was a Moravian group of immigrants who established before 1756 and named Lititz in 1756 as a religious community.

The Moravians built this church in 1787. Prior to its construction, services were held in the adjacent Gemeinhaus (communal house), which was built in 1762 and is now the parsonage. Behind these buildings, in the church cemetery, is the grave of General John Sutter, who spent the last years of his life in Lititz following his founding of Sacramento and a mill where the California Gold Rush began in 1849.

The nearby church archives and museum feature documents from the settlement’s early history. A small shop located in the church complex also sells three-dimensional Moravian 26-point stars, for which the town is famous.
