    Join Shank's Mare and Civil War historian Scott Mingus, Sr. on a guided hike through the borough of Wrightsville. We will re-trace the movements of the Confederate troops as they approach the borough along with the placements of the Union soldiers as they guard the strategic bridge over the Susquehanna River. This hike will give you first hand glimpses on the activities just prior to the burning of the WrightsvilleBridge and the Battle of Gettysburg.

Greg has extensive knowledge in not only home-brewed beers, but has toured many of the well-know craft breweries around the Mid-Atlantic.

  • Raab Park History and Mystery Hike

    The York County Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a “History and Mystery of Raab County Park” hike from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Participants will tour the 19th-century York Iron Company Mine. Along the tour, discover how miners extracted the rich iron ore out of the ground and transported the ore to area furnaces. Learn about the miner’s life during the 1800s. Also, see how the York County Parks has installed bat doors over the shafts to protect the bat population.

    Join The Columbia Historic Preservation Society (CHiPS) on a bus trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the National Cherry Blossom Festival and Parade, to see the beautiful cherry blossom trees, and to visit the monuments on April 14, 2012. You will have plenty of free time to enjoy the events and to eat on your own. DATE: Saturday, April 14, 2012 TIME: 7:00 A.M.
