SHCIAC: Conestoga Navigation
March 20 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Columbia Crossing will host Safe Harbor Citizens Information Advisory Committee (SHCIAC) on Wednesday, March 20th at 7 PM. The committee is made up of a group of concerned citizens from the communities surrounding Lake Clarke, who are interested in and affected by plant operations at Safe Harbor. The management of Safe Harbor is interested in and addresses all concerns and interests expressed by the Committee.
The Safe Harbor Citizens Information Advisory Committee will welcome Donald Kautz and Benton Webber to share the history of the slack water canal system that once existed on the Conestoga River from Lancaster to the Susquehanna River. The presentation includes photos of remnants of its locks as they appear today and a brief history of the Conestoga Navigation Company.
The speakers will be Donald Kautz, web developer by profession and amateur photographer in his spare time, and Benton G. Webber, municipal engineer for Lancaster Township. Kautz, who recently produced a photo essay about the Conestoga River, has lived in Lancaster County all his life and currently resides in East Lampeter Township. Active in local engineering circles for more than 30 years, Webber grew up and lives in Manheim Township and holds an engineering degree from Lehigh University.
The presentation is free and light refreshments will be served. Attendees are welcome to stay to hear updates from the committee and Brookfield Renewable.
