Networks and Partnerships

SGHA is part of a variety of networks and partnerships that work to advance the preservation of natural and cultural heritage, conserve heritage resources, educate the public and promote economic development through community revitalization and heritage/outdoor tourism.

Title: Rivertownes PA USA
Rivertownes PA USA is a nonprofit working to help promote, preserve and enhance the culture, heritage and related commerce and recreational activities in the Pennsylvania Susquehanna river towns of Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville and surrounding areas. They host RiverFest each June and light the historic Civil War Bridge Piers in commemoration of the local residents stopping the advancement of Confederate Troops by burning the bridge.

Title: Heritage PA
Founded in the early 1990's, HeritagePA serves as a resource network for professional leadership, coordination and advocacy within our state's heritage development community. Pennsylvania's Heritage Areas are distinctive regional assets that cultivate community and economic deveopment, encourage tourism, and develop recreational activities that enhance the quality of life for residents and provide memorabl eexperiences for our visitors.

Title: PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is charged with maintaining and preserving the 117 state parks; managing the 2.1 million acres of state forest land; providing information on the state's ecological and geologic resources; and establishing community conservation partnerships with grants and technical assistance to benefit rivers, trails, greenways, local parks and recreation, regional heritage parks, open space and natural areas.

Title: Lower Susquehanna Conservation Landscape Initiative
Located in Lancaster and York counties, the Lower Susquehanna Conservation Landscape Initiative (LSCLI) strives to conserve and protect the greenway corridor of river lands along the Susquehanna River. This corridor of lands and water will be the foundation upon which to build an economic development, community sustainability and conservation stewardship strategy for the two counties.

Title: Susquehanna Greenway Partnership
Greenways are corridors of land recognized for their ability to connect people and places together. The Susquehanna Greenway will link natural, cultural, historic, and recreational resources along the 500-mile corridor of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. It will create a basin-wide organization for resource management and community conservation - factors of lasting importance to the economies and quality of life of river communities.

Title: Preservation Pennsylvania
Preservation Pennsylvania assists communities in the state to protect and utilize the historic resources they want to preserve for the future through creative partnerships, targeted educational and advocacy programs, advisory assistance, and special projects. Preservation Pennsylvania (PPA) is the Commonwealth's only statewide, private non-profit, membership organization dedicated to the protection of historically and architecturally significant properties.

Title: Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network
Through a partnership system of parks, refuges, museums, historic sites and water trails spanning the watershed, the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network helps the American public access, enjoy, understand and appreciate the natural, cultural, historic and recreational resources and values of the Chesapeake and its rivers and engage in their stewardship.

Title: The Conservation Fund
The Conservation Fund provides the skills, strategies and funds that their partners need to fulfill conservation priorities swiftly and successfully. With support from donors, the Conservation Fund partners with community, government and corporate leaders to protect America's favorite outdoor places and to conserve resources for healthy, sustainable communities. They operate leanly, with no formal membership, charitable endowment or political agenda.

Title: Alliance of National Heritage Areas
The Alliance of National Heritage Areas works to create and enhance strategic links among the Congressionally designated National Heritage Areas and other organizations associated with heritage development. They strive to educate key constituencies about success and opportunities associated with heritage development in the areas of natural resource conservation, historic preservation, community revitalization, economic development, recreation enhancement, the arts, folk life, education and interpretation.

Title: National Trust for Historic Preservation
The National Trust for Historic Preservation provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources to save America's diverse historic places and revitalize our communities. The organization is a private, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing America's communities
