Enjoy a Day on the Lower
Susquehanna River
On September 6, 2003 the Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area (SGHA) hosted a special 5-mile pre-dedication kayak trip down the Susquehanna River followed by a luncheon at Shank's Mare Outfitter's in York County. A group of thirty-five special guests including local political leaders, SGHA Board of Directors and SGHA Advisory Council members, National Park Service staff, historians, tourist promotion agency representatives, planners, naturalists, and others enjoyed a kayak trip from Wrightsville to Shank's Mare Outfitters on the Susquehanna River. The group shared information and ideas, toured an abandoned canal (Murphy's Hollow), visited the Conejohela Flats, and later attended a SGHA Dedication and Award Ceremony for the Susquehanna River Water Trail Map and Guide and Interpretive Panels.
