Support National Heritage Area Designation for Our Region
The Susquehanna Gateway Heritage Area is working towards designation of Lancaster and York Counties as a National Heritage Area. National Heritage Area designation will be an important step for advancing heritage development initiatives for the region. National recognition can boost visibility and visitation, bring critical technical assistance and support to the region, and further highlight and promote the majestic Susquehanna River.
National designation requires approval of legislation by the United States Congress. United States Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr. of Pennsylvania has introduced
S.1150 to designate our region as the Susquehanna Gateway National Heritage Area.
We need all of our region’s representatives in Congress to know that local citizens and visitors to our area support designation of Lancaster and York Counties as a National Heritage Area. We invite you to send an email or fax a letter to our United States Senators and Representatives asking them to advance S.1150 through Congress and expressing your support for national recognition of our region’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
