Guided Bicycle Experience

September 18 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$8 – $10

Enjoy the sights of Lancaster County’s Northwest River Trail on a 2-hour bike tour in the company of a local guide from Susquehanna Heritage. You’ll see important historical sites as well as some of the trail’s popular features.

In addition to cycling along the 190-year-old canal towpath and former railroad, your guide will show you Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, the landmark Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge, Point Rock Tunnel, the Cenozoic-era Chickies Rock Formation, the abandoned pig iron furnace complex, and the Chiques Creek – with some beautiful peeks at the Susquehanna River. Enjoy a pleasant break at the Furnace Road Day Use Area at Chickies Rock County Park.

You’ll see some of the trail’s beautiful but less well-known spots as well. At a number of stops, your guide will tell you about the history of the sites that you’re visiting. At the end of the tour, you can continue your ride on the trail, return to the start point with your guide. Bring your own bike or rent one from on-site outfitter, Chiques Rock Outfitters. A helmet is required.
