Ranger Hour at Columbia Crossing

An event every week that begins at 6:00 am on Tuesday, repeating until September 25, 2018
Join Samuel S. Lewis State Park’s Environmental Educator, Curtis Sherwood, for a free weekly nature series this summer and fall! Meet on the deck at Columbia Crossing, all ages welcome. This program is best for families and for children to participate with their caretakers. Large groups, please call Columbia Crossing to make accommodations.
Tues 14th– Metal Detecting
Learn the basics of metal detecting while searching for hidden treasures.
Tues 21st – Fishing
Take out a rod and reel on the river to see what fish we can catch. Rods provided.
Tues 28th – Candle Making
Dip your own candle and use natural colors and scents to add some pizzazz.
Tues 4th – Reptiles
Meet some of the reptiles found in the area and find out how they live.
Tues 11th – Decomposers
What is vermicomposting? Learn to make your own scentless compost bin for your kitchen.
Tues 18th– Making Mozzarella
Say ‘CHEESE’! Practice making homemade mozzarella and enjoy it on crackers.
Tues 25th – Mouse Trapped
What small creatures are lurking around the building during the night. We’ll find out in the morning!
